Composition and characteristics of Adhesive 88

The adhesive is based on a solution of natural rubber in gasoline. Due to this composition, the finished rubber adhesive offers the following advantages:

• resistance to a wide temperature range, from –50°C to +70°C;
• resistance to the negative effects of fresh and salt water;
• contains no hazardous impurities and does not release them during use;
• does not form a corrosive film when bonding metals and alloys;
• remains elastic and does not peel off, allowing for efficient repair of moving product parts;
• demonstrates high peel strength;
• the time required for complete curing of the adhesive is approximately 24 hours; when a press is applied, this time is significantly reduced;
• suitable for both cold and hot bonding of rubber.

Applications of rubber adhesive

This versatile industrial adhesive is applied as follows:

1. Surface preparation. Clean the surfaces to be bonded by removing dirt, shavings, old paint, and other contaminants, as these reduce bonding strength.
2. Degreasing. Degrease the prepared surfaces using a suitable solvent and allow them to dry completely.
3. Adhesive preparation. Stir the adhesive thoroughly until a uniform consistency is achieved, as thickening may occur during prolonged storage.
4. Application. Apply the adhesive to both surfaces and allow it to dry for approximately 15 minutes. Apply a second layer and leave it to dry for several more minutes.
5. Bonding. Join the surfaces and, if possible, place them under a press to enhance adhesion. Leave for 24 hours; the curing time may be extended if necessary.
